8x10 Oil over Acrylic Gels on Hardboard
Gramma Esther, where do I begin? Well, first and far most, she is the sweetest lady you'll ever meet! Old age hasn't hindered her good deeds a bit. It amazes me every time I see her she is up first thing in the morning making tortillas, doing dishes or helping out with some household chore or another. Really quite astonishing. I'm too lazy to get out of bed and get myself dressed and here granny is taking over the house one job at a time. I guess I should be a little ashamed of myself, but instead I choose to be inspired. Gramma can be up at the crack of dawn (and I'm not kidding) doing things and making sure everyone is taken care when in all honesty she should be the one lounging around the house. To me its really an inspiration to growing old around family and the people you love most. She makes it her personal duty to take care of loved ones. No matter the strain or sleep she is going to be losing over it! Her family is her life and I have no doubt in my mind that she is going to be watching out and taking care of everyone until we strap her down and tell her to stop! But heck, being the lady she is she will probably sneak out of her bed and whip up some mean dinner while no one is looking! She is such an amazing person. This painting was commissioned by her granddaughter Karla to show her appreciation for all her grandma has done for her and the family. I really enjoyed doing the painting and was more than happy to paint Gramma with all the love and kindness she has more than earned over the years. Happy Mother's Day Gramma Esther!

And you are absolutely right, she is an inspiration! I shudder to think of the day God takes her from us :(
