"Zeke and Yvette"
by Kimberly Bustillos on 12/2/2008 2:24:33 AM

This one was really a breakthrough for my artistically.  It is the first painting that I intentionally used the rules of compositions ( the ones I know anyways) and color to make art.  Amazingly, having rules and guidelines really gave me the freedom I need to pull this piece off.  What really inspired me to do this piece was the real life love these two had for each other.  It wasn't one of those cutesy moments where they're both saying "We never fight, we get along perfect everyday, lets kiss and prove it to people" type sceneriose.  She was about five months pregnant with their second child, still trying to manhandle the first one who was in the process of getting potty trained.  He, well, lets just say he had a few too many drinks that night, and needed about as much manhandling as the two year old.  How very different their night was going, they still had no problem at all showing that they cared.

And to top it off, this painting won Best of Show, First Place, and Division Champion at the Alaska State Fair!
