Spheres, fabric and the goddess
by Kimberly Bustillos on 12/5/2008 2:21:21 AM

Well, after a long spell of no drawing/sketching I've decided to take the advice of the best darn artist I actually know (Mrs. Talya Johnson herself) and take up sketching again.  I'm a beet rusty at it to say the least.  But I'm really starting to enjoy it!  Here are a few from my sketch book.

To start off I decided to do something simple.  A nice little circle right?  Oh contrair!  Wow, spheres are so much harder than I thought!  Good practice for value and light studies I must say.  On these ones I was doing a little practice with different drawing mediums as well.

This is a study off of a pic of a bronze goddess.  I loved the way she was standing and was trying to catch her body language.  This little bronze has the perfect body language going on and perky breasts, what more could you ask for?  I think I'm going to be doing a few more sketches of her!

This is my study of DaVinci's study of fabric.  I read up on this piece a little.  Throughout his career DaVinci did  studies on fabric by draping plaster soaked fabrics over plaster casts.  Would have never thought.  I had always assumed he just used plain cloth.
