Baby Daisy - Oil/Acrylic 9x12 on Hardboard
"Baby Daisy" is my first real effort at oils. The underpainting, gels, heavy textures and cheese cloth where all done with acrylics. The topcoat in oils. I used the Chroma Archival Oils for this one. And I must say I'm very happy with the results! Baby Daisy is a portrait of Zeke and Yvette's newest addition! I visited the couple and their new little one at the hospital when Daisy was two days old to get the reference photo and footprints. It was a fun painting to do. I had been playing with the idea of getting foot prints/hand prints on a painting for quite some time. And since the most photogenic couple I know happened to be expecting, I had no choice but to go for it! Needless to say there will be quite a few more paintings of this wee one and her family.
