"little Miss Clo"
by Kimberly Bustillos on 3/12/2009 11:21:49 AM

24x36 inches Oil on Panel

This painting is of my precious little Claudia.  It is also my first painting done only in oil paint and is by far the largest I've ever done.  Clo is the runt of the family and since she didn't have any big paintings I figured we'd compensate by making hers the biggest : )
It was a difficult painting to do.  Young kids always are.  They don't talk and wear all their expressions on their face.  Every detail matters greatly.  Her tiny little smirk makes all the difference.  And is a key give away to her intricate little personality.  Clo is always off getting into something.  The actual reference photo I used for this she was eating dirt.  All dresses up in her Sunday best.  Looking like a sweet little princess.  And what better to do than eat dirt right?  I guess its a good lesson learned, never overlook an opportunity to explore and enjoy yourself ; )
